Dale Gribble Rusty Shackleford: Nice but could use some improvement

Overall the table is a nice table after it has been assembled, however the design of the table is why I am giving it two stars. Complaints 1. The dowels used in the assembly are not long or wide enough for the holes pre-drilled in the wood. You are essentially given dowels which are one size too small for the pre-drilled holes. 2. The glue which comes with the table is nowhere near sufficient amount of glue needed to assemble this table. I ended up having to go to Lowe s to buy more wood glue. The table came with 64 number 10 x 35 mm wooden dowels and two small tubes roughly the size of a tube of Chapstick to glue all of them in. 3. The table comes with 138 wooden screws which are used to secure various wood pieces in the kit. The major complaint is none of these pieces have pre-drilled holes in the receiving end for these 138 screws. The instructions advise you to not use a drill for the assembly process. With 138 screws and none of them being pre-drilled, I used a drill while being incredibly careful not to over tighten the screws stripping out the wood. I used a variable speed battery drill to install the screws 90 of the way and finished it up with a screwdriver. This method still took two hours to assemble the table, I can only imagine how long it would have taken without the drill. 4. The end leafs are poorly designed in regards to how they are secured to the main table. To the manufacturer you should redesign the end leafs in how they are secured to the table. The end leafs have all of their weight and the weight placed onto the leafs placed solely on item number 5. Replace 5 with something like 15 and secure it the exact same way 15 is secured to 4.
