I purchased this as a lingerie chest, and I read the specs so I knew that is isn't as large as a regular chest of drawers. It is all wood. The drawers can be pulled out completely, but on the crossbar above each drawer there's a small wooden slat that is horizontal to the crossbar if you turn it so that it's vertical, it stops the drawers from being pulled out and it can be turned horizontal again when you do want to remove the drawers. It is nicely made and the external finish is good the color glows prettily , and the hardware is good. It arrived very quickly and was well-packaged for shipping. I took away 1 star because, 1 there's a small indentation on the top where it was bumped and, 2 the drawers are a bit rough inside so I had to line them to hold my lingerie and socks without snagging.
